CALYPSO
Calypso began around the 1930's in Trinidad and Tobago, and has evolved into the modern day Soca. Upbeat melodies and unique sounds come from a variety of homemade instruments such as the well-known steel drum. As a fully festive music style, Calypso is danced without boundaries and often coordinated in a group. A few of the famous artists are Harry Belafonte, Mighty Sparrow, Byron Lee & the Dragonaires, and Lord Melody.
